January 31 Artist Talk (4p) and opening reception (5p). Free and open to the public. The Edward A. Whitney Gallery is open Monday-Friday 10a-7p and Sundays 12-4p. David W. Simpson is a printmaker, sculptor, and installation artist based in Seattle, Washington. Simpson uses artifacts marked by the passage of time— both natural and man-made detritus—in his sculptural and printmaking practices, transforming them into contemporary statements. While working with a range of processes, materials, and aesthetics, Simpson’s work is unified by a graphic immediacy and the artist’s practice of gathering found objects to repurpose into art. A daily ritual is to walk along the beach just steps from home in search of driftwood or plywood pieces degraded by the waves, which he uses to make his relief prints, cyanotypes and serigraph series. Simpson received a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from the School of Fine Arts and Design of Iowa State University. He was awarded a 4 Cultu (View Full Event Description Here: http://www.whitneyarts.org/event/david-simpson/)

2:00pm Interacting with Art: Mary Dailey
Date: Friday, February 22, 2019
Start Time: 2:00pm
End Time: 5:00pm
Where: Expressions Art Gallery & Framing LLC, 3640, 645 Broadway St, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA

Our Interacting with Art series continues to create interest and we are excited to share the upcoming event. Mary Dailey, daughter of the famed photographer, Arthur "Pete" Dailey, will be sharing stories about the amazing life her father led. He has photos of a ravine filled with French soldiers during WW1 and of the amazingly simple medical facility they used for the wounded. He has photos with Walt Disney and the artist Joe DeYoung and was friends with the famous painter Gollings. Unrelated to his career, Mr. Dailey was also invited into a previously unopened room in King Tut's Tomb in 1924. Related to his career, Mary was told once in Chicago that he changed the industry and is well known "to this day" in the advertising culture countrywide. A native of Nebraska, Pete Dailey instantly fell in love with Wyoming and captured images of the Native American culture as well as the cowboy culture. Make no mistake, his photo's captured moments of history in the making. Come to Expressions on Friday the 22nd and meet Mary and hear about the life and career of Arthur Dailey. The gallery is free and open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 to 4 on Saturdays. If you would like more information about these artists, exhibitions, or receptions, please contact Wanda Kerns at 307-673-2878 or email at artistic7expressions@gmail.com.

End Time: 7:00pm
Where: Whitney Center for the Arts, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA

He was awarded a 4 Cultu (View Full Event Description Here: http://www.whitneyarts.org/event/david-simpson/)
